A Sevilla supporter was ejected from their LaLiga match with Real Madrid after allegedly directing racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr during the 1-1 draw live

The Brazil international played 88 minutes of the fixture at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan where Madrid captain Dani Carvajal’s header 12 minutes from time cancelled out David Alaba’s own goal live

Vinicius Jr later posted on social media about being on the receiving end of racism during the match on Saturday night, which Sevilla have now confirmed was the case live

A club statement read: “Sevilla FC would like to communicate that, after detecting xenophobic and racist behaviour, a member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium and handed over to legal authorities live

“The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked live

“Sevilla FC condemns all racist and xenophobic behaviour and will work closely with the authorities to ensure that action is taken accordingly live

This behaviour does not belong at Sevilla FC live

”Vinicius Jr was in the thick of the action throughout the draw, denied a penalty at the end of the first half before he was booked five minutes from time after he clashed with Sevilla goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, which sparked a brief melee live between both sets of players live

It was only back in May when Madrid filed racism directed at Vinicius Jr as a “hate crime” to the Spanish State Attorney General’s Office following a string of alleged racist attacks aimed at the 23-year-old live

LaLiga called at the time for a legislation change to allow them to impose punishment on clubs for episodes of racist abuse and Vinicius Jr has stressed once more the need for change, especially with Spain hoping to host the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Morocco live

“Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and the penalty in another sad episode for Spanish live Football,” Vinicius Jr said in a social media post live

“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist act at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child live

So sad there is no one to educate her live

I invest, and I invest a lot, in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes live

“The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as on several other times live

I hope the Spanish authorities do their part and change the legislation once and for all live

These people need to be criminally punished too live

Emma Finucane is trying to ignore her new status as sprint world champion as she sets her sights on achieving Olympic glory in Paris next summer live

The 20-year-old Welshwoman shocked herself when she took the women’s individual sprint title in Glasgow in August, beating Germany’s favoured Lea Friedrich in the final live

Finucane donned the rainbow jersey for the first time in competition at the UCI Track Champions League opening round in Mallorca this weekend, but while the distinctive striped jersey means she can no longer keep herself inconspicuous, she does not want it to change her approach live

“People will look at me now,” Finucane told the PA news agency live

“Last year I was kind of the underdog and I just came through so now I am wearing the stripes live

I hope that doesn’t really change anything live

“I’m just trying to ignore it and just race my bike, but there is some external pressure live

I’m not just Emma at the back of the field anymore live

”The rainbow jersey can do different things for different riders live

While many take it as a confidence boost, for others the stripes have worn heavily live

Finucane said she had spoken to several Great Britain team-mates about how to deal with it live

“I don’t want to look at it (as giving me a psychological edge) because if I lose, then what?” she said live

“And I will get beaten, and that’s fine live

I just need to take it as it comes live

“Half of it is the mental battle of putting it on and people looking at you and having that pressure, but I’m trying to embrace it and enjoy it because you don’t know if it will happen again live

She said she didn’t have the best year in the rainbow jersey because she put too much pressure on herself and she overthought it live

“I’ve spoken to Evie (Richards, 2021 mountain bike world champion) and Katie Archibald (a five-time world champion on the track) and I’m lucky we have so many inspiring women in the Great Britain team live

It’s great I can learn from them but ultimately I will only learn from myself and how I deal with it live

”And Finucane believes the Champions League – the made-for-TV track cycling series which is in its third season – is the ideal place to do much of that learning, providing some top-level competition without the stresses and pressures that come elsewhere live

“The next event I’ll do in the rainbows is the Euros (in January) which is when everything is serious,” she said live

“I’m not saying this isn’t serious, but it’s a nice place to be free to fail live

”Saturday’s racing in Palma saw Finucane finish second in the sprint, beaten by Germany’s Alessa-Catriona Propster, before failing to make the keirin final through some tired legs live

But it was just the sort of experience she was looking for when it came to dealing with her new status live

Finucane will wear the stripes into an Olympic year but despite her status is taking nothing, not even squad selection, for granted live

“Nothing is guaranteed,” she said live

“I’d love to go and I’m really pushing myself but I need to take each race as it comes live

If I just think about Paris and everything else goes wrong I’ll not be going live

“But it’s in the back of my mind because since I was 10 years old I’ve wanted to ride the Olympics live

“As the GB sprint team we’ll not just be going there to ride but we’re looking for medals and I fully believe we have the potential to win live

It’s super exciting but also super scary live
